Senator Sanders gins up a campaign to save some small town post offices in Vermont. The USPS is in the hole and needs to save money. It is also a relic. Times have changed and new technologies have been born, grown up, and matured. But for Progressives – and Senator Sanders is a purebred – is is always 1930, or somewhere thereabouts. We need to "save Social Security" which is a New Deal transfer payment contraption the fundamental promises of which are political lies. It is not "insurance" and you do not have your own "account." But it must be "saved."
Senator Sanders is, in fact, a reactionary, stubbornly resisting change. Good thing he wasn't around in 1861 or we would still be funding the Pony Express.
