GW has jumped the shark. Last week the leftyrag Boston Globule ran an op-ed that was quite harsh(deservedly so) on the goracle. Surprising to see printed.
Beware when a cult's tenants are shown to be false the believers increase their devotion to the belief system they bought into. In modern states I expect politicians to largely take the pulse and direction of people that realize it was a sham. In VT expect them to work harder and faster to cure GW, damn the consequences it is too important to consider inaction...

The Goric Goofs have too many eggs in that basket to drop it now. Carbon credit trading, how much money does the Church of the Solar Shaman have tied up in that coal mine. Ask T. Boone Pickens and Pelosi the same question?
Do you think Cap & Tax is going silently into the night?
That's a huge pile of loot invested in WINNING this game, before they make money by raping the public.

Makes one wonder if the Shumster has illiquid assets tied up in some unsprouted bean plot?
Hmmmm.

That's not a very hard question to answer no to. I would. But I do think global warming could seriously affect my descendants. Just because something may not happen in our lifetime is not a reason it should be of no concern.

Dirk: The same could be said with regard to an invasion by hostile space aliens - and as we've had confirmed in recent months, that's a more likely threat than is "global warming."

The wonder of the age is the neurotic obsession with purely imaginary crises while a number of real (and serious) ones are staring us in the face....

The Global Warming nonsense is nothing more than a smokescreen for left wing politicians to put up to make their enviro-twit base think they're doing something. This way politician-thieves like Shumlin don't have to address the real business of the state, like dealing with 150 million of debt. I doubt I'm telling anyone who reads Tiger anything new...

The trouble is there is enough of a base to vote these creeps back into power but not enough to vote them out.

All the original post has shown is that the Deniers have done a good public relations job taking advantage of a few unfortunate missteps by the global warming community. There is still an enormous amount of evidence that indicates that global climate and global warming is in the early stages of dramatic change.

Daniel Foty

Nice try, tvp, but that won't wash anymore - the game is over, and it would be best to adjust to the new reality.

It's a free country, and anyone-and-everyone is free to cling to what amounts to a now-discredited ersatz religion. (And like any discredited religious cult, there are plenty of true-believers who were ideologically overinvested and will - for a time - scream all the louder as compensation for the obvious crumbling of their devotional edifice.)

Other than the fanatical true-believers, all that's left is a collection of hucksters. There are the huckster "scientists" (such as Mr. Jones and Mr. Mann) who abused "science" and its processes, the huckster politicos (such as Mr. Gore and Mr. Pachauri) who have ridden the phantom crisis to great personal wealth and power (and bauble prizes), and a whole coterie of hangers-on and "the comprised" who climbed aboard the gravy train (or have been trying mightily to do so).

A great many people with real scientific credentials and backgrounds (present company included) tried to penetrate the fog, but were blocked. Failing that, it was clear that if the "scare" were true, there were implications that should show up elsewhere - and when no such implications showed up, many of us were left scratching our heads and wondering where the alarmist narrative was getting its gist.

Now we know.

Public perception is (thankfully) catching on to the situation....

"a few unfortunate missteps by the global warming community."

"the science is settled"

"it's a no-brainer".

it's like night of the living dead.

If all the acolytes attending the Goric Cathedral wish to cut their CO2 emissions by ceasing to exhale, fine that's a choice.

Don't expect the rest of the world to place hands on shoulders and shuffle off to the climate chain gang.

Leave that to the gulag lovers.

Quotes

  • Only a crisis—actual or perceived— produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around. That, I believe, is our basic function: to develop alternatives to existing policies, to keep them alive and available until the politically impossible becomes politically inevitable ....
