Congress is buying itself three new airplanes. Understandable. Anyone who has a choice would avoid flying commercial these days. But why new airplanes at a time when we are looking at a deficit that might soar past $2 trillion and when Congress just bought up a couple of bankrupt car companies that, no doubt, included some executive jets among their assets. The Gulfstreams that GM and Chrysler owned might have a few hours of flying time on them but they ought to be in good enough shape to carry a congressperson on a fact-finding trip to the Bahamas or Paris or wherever.
Perhaps Congress is trying to do something for the executive jet industry. Maybe someone in Washington has cooked up a scheme where the government rebates a few hundred k on the price of a shiny new Lear or Gulfstream if you trade in the old one so the engines can be disabled ...

We can't have Nancy or Harry taking off their shoes or worse. No-no-no! That will not do!
If Harry needs to "officially" check room rate on the Caicos Islands versus Las Vegas rates, he needs to get there quickly.
