So, an anti-nuke protester dumps a pile of 'compost' on a Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner...
Sadly, this isn't the set up for a joke but what passes for political dialog in this state. Indeed, childish displays of ignorance and disrespect also pass for news these days:
"Walking up to the head table, with the NRC officials stiffening in their chairs, Shaw reached into a plastic shopping bag and took out some dark brown compost and spread it across the papers of the NRC officials, and into their water glasses."
"No charge," she said. "That's really good quality compost."
The story accurately captures the protesters' – and perhaps many other Vermonters' – belief that the NRC is lying. We can only imagine what state of mind you need to be in to think a bunch of anti-nuke protesters are less biased than... oh, how about the highest-rated agency in the federal government.
According to a survey of 200,000 federal employees by the Office of Personnel Management, the NRC ranks number one when measured on four key dimensions: leadership, performance, talent, and job satisfaction. While 'lying' is admittedly not one of the dimensions measured, if I had to put my money on it I'd side with the NRC on this one.
Perhaps the protester should have gone naked? This seems to be a popular move in protester circles and while I can't speak to its effectiveness, at least it has entertainment value.

Brattleboro and Newfane, the villages full of idiots. Someone needs to apologize to the NRC and quick, before VY's license expires. And folks from down country wonder why I pack a pistol in my pocket.

Our idiot wandered away here in Waltham, we had no idea where he went. Put up posters on poles and at the 7 & 17 store with no luck.
Well, you found him; you can keep him. He's too stupid to find his way home and he's not worth the gas to get.

Sally might not be so glib if she received a knuckle sandwich for her troubles.

Be careful of that pistol in your pocket when you hit all those potholes. Oh, I forgot you tend to only travel on the other side of the bridge. No potholes over there I am sure.

I think you miss the point of most Vermonters' concerns. On one hand, the safety and maintenance issues are piling up repeatedly with less then forthcoming reactions from Entergy and the Governor's office, and on the other hand, those two parties are collaborating to get Entergy off the hook for post-shutdown cleanup. Citing NRC's good reviews misses the point.

GreenVTster if Vters beef is with the Gov. and Entergy why assault the NRC with cow crap?

Such behavior is an assault and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I notice that the tea party folks had no bad behvior. Hmm! That says something doesn't it?

You gotta understand something about these "green" protesters. Where most normal folks use logic, these strange people substitute emotion because there ain't no logic in their actions. Besides, just like the rest of us, they need an occasional release, It's just their way of achieving orgasms.
