Sooner or later, facts must be faced and tough decisions must be made. Sooner always seems to come much later in Vermont than in other jurisdictions.

Coming soon, indeed. This is the beginning of a wave of retrenchments that all state governments in the Northeast will eventually be forced to take. You can't have your cake and eat it, too -- especially when there's no cake left.
