In the latest Communique from the Education Intelligence Agency, there is a piece on recent Bureau of Labor statistics that shows public school employment is increasing much faster nationally than public school enrollment. Sound familiar? The public education workforce is now over 10 million, as the Wall Street Journal describes hiring in public education as "robust." Specifically, EIA mentions Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Vermont as places where hiring and student enrollment are particularly out of line. On the EIA page, there is a link to staffing data for Vermont.
