Why is Governor Douglas hiring a lobbyist to represent our interests in Washington? Don’t we have elected representatives who are supposed to be looking out for us? Are our reps so ineffective we need to pay outsiders to do their job? And, if they’re not working hard for our interests what exactly are they doing, arguing about global warming?
You’d think Vermont’s’ leading socialist would be more than adept at bringing home the bacon. After all, the ideology is founded on the principle of spending other people’s money. Who could possibly be more qualified to go to Washington to beg for federal dollars than Bernie? Which of course is probably why we, (not me, I assure you), sent him in the first place.
Of course, the flip side of the socialist coin is to avoid spending your own money, which might explain how we ended up with a Republican Governor? Who better than a fiscal conservative to help divvy up all the federal loot but not dig too deep into our own pockets? Maybe a state–paid lobbyist in Washington isn’t so strange after all. It’ll be like a tag team or the dynamic duo. Bernie can grab the money and run while Douglas’ man stays behind to make sure there are no strings attached.
