Education Commissioner Richard Cate writes to today's kindergarten students and asks himself this question:
"Am I doing everything possible to help prepare you and all of Vermont's children for the world that will await you when you graduate from high school?"
The New York Times reports that human resource executives say the preparations that are needed are pretty basic:
Nearly half the executives said that entry-level workers lacked writing skills, and 27 percent said that they were deficient in critical thinking.
