The Herald's latest plan for extracting blood from turnips.
The Legislature ought to continue to monitor the rebates that taxpayers get under the income-sensitivity provisions of Act 68 to ensure that wealthy people are not gaining excessive rebates for lavish homes by hiding income. That would be one way to help limit the pressure of property taxes on middle-income Vermonters.
Eventually, there will be no privacy for nobody. All in the name of fairness and getting a few more bucks to do the urgent stuff that needs to be done.
Still, maybe there will be a few laughs along the way.

I have neither wealth nor a lavish house, however when the public suggestions for reducing taxes on middle income vermonters amounts to making sure the rich aren't cheating on their taxes I think it is past time to start researching other places to live. That it is the educated and/or wealthy folk who can move the easiest can't be good for the tax base.
