Omya Industries Inc. announced Tuesday it is relocating its corporate headquarters to Cincinnati, a move that will mean the loss of 50 high-paying jobs, representing nearly 17 percent of the company's Vermont workforce.
That, of course, is the bad news. The good news, further down in the story, is:
"This has nothing to do with Vermont," [James] Reddy [president of Omya's North American operations] said.
But, then:
Reddy said the Cincinnati area "jumped out" because it's centrally located, putting all of the company's plants within easy reach by air. He also said another factor in the decision was the area's quality of life with arts, sports, entertainment and a good educational system.
So, could Reddy and Omya be making the move because the iPhone won't work in Vermont?
