This help wanted ad in the Burlington Free Press finds that Ben and Jerry's is looking for someone to work for $10.50 an hour. The Vermont Liveable Wage Campaign, a part of the Peace and Justice Center in Burlington calculates that a livable wage for a single person in rural Vermont is $13.94 per hour--more in an urban area and still more for families with kids. The liveable wage folks picketed UVM for paying less than their calculated livable wage. Why aren't the protesters picketing Vermont's favorite firm?

Just another example of the Marxists ruining (running?) this state. They whip up the propaganda machine when it benefits their political agenda, but become mute when it comes around to reflect on them.
It kills me that the protesters at groovy UV are trying to ridicule successful organizations, albeit a Marxist one in this case (sorry Mr. Woolf, you are an exception at UVM), while they live off of Daddy’s money (or their Grand-daddy’s trust fund). I long for the days that this type of student arrived on campus with manners.
There are plenty of people living in Vermont, or wanting to, that have exceptional talent and drive, that could be successful entrepreneurs, but who wouldn’t consider doing so in Vermont because they would be subjected to the harassment from Vermont Livable Wage Campaign and like organizations that use their cheap labor (free college students whipped into a frenzy by their propaganda) to protest that cheap labor is bad. The hypocrisy meter has melted on that one.
No one in their right mind would consider starting any sort of business in Vermont that was not whole heartedly part of the tin foil hat coalition (see Mr.’s Ben & Jerry). Their profits would be appropriated as quickly as Hugo Chavez takes over Conoco.
