Representative Janet Ancel defends the Legislature's work on education funding by enumerating all the things that it did not do. She somehow neglected to mention that it did not reduce property taxes in any material way but, then, that was never on the agenda. Ms. Ancel made this clear when -- commenting on the aimless ed funding bill the Legislature did finally pass -- she said, "Getting by this lets us focus on some really important things."
Such a distraction, this whole taxation thing.
Ms. Ancel covers the Legislature's retreat by calling, boldly, for more studies. May we suggest this as a good place to begin the research.
